These
beautiful gardens are enhanced by quarry tile sidewalks. The tile
used here is Seneca Tile, 8" x 8", Unglazed, Brown Flashed. Seneca
Tile's quarry tile is particularly beautiful for residential use.
The color and flashing is somewhat irregular and the corners of each tile
are slightly rounded giving the tile a softer, less institutional appearance.
Although it is difficult to see in this picture, the border tiles are 4"
x 8" along the straight portions of the sidewalks. Along the curves
each piece of tile was custom fit and cut in a pie shape wedge to turn
the radius.
This
hot tub, located at the Eisenhower Inn in Gettysburg, is clad with 2" x
2" ceramic mosaic tile manufactured by Daltile right here in Gettysburg.
The patterns that you see inside the tub and on the floors were custom
factory mounted into sheets 1' x 2'. Not shown in the photo is the
large 'L' shaped indoor pool and deck which is clad in the same tile.
This entire installation is indoors. The winters in Gettysburg are
too severe for this type of installation in an exterior application.
This
is the bathroom for the "Lincoln Room", a guest room at the Farnsworth
House in Gettysburg, PA. Actually this photo is a work in progress
as we were not quite finished at the time the photo was taken. The
owner's design idea for this bathroom was to recreate a Victorian Era bathroom.
To accomplish this we used 1" x 1" ceramic mosaic floor tile in the colors
black, white and gray. Notice how the pattern is very carefully "wrapped"
along the round front of the tub. On the walls we used 3" x 6" Glazed
white tile laid in a staggered bond pattern with black base, accent tile
and bullnose at the top. The owner completed the victorian feeling
with victorian style toilet, sink and fixtures.
Marble
is considered by many to be the most beautiful finish available for floors
and walls. Here is a portion of the hallways in a home where two
colors of marble were laid in patterns. Nearly 800 square feet of
marble was installed in the halls of this home adding elegance to an otherwise
uninteresting space in the home.
Pictured
here is yet another bathroom in one of the bed and breakfast guest rooms
at the Farnsworth House in Gettysburg. The concept in this room was
to create the feel of the Roman ruins. As you can see we used a very
rustic, stone look tile and very heavy accent pieces. Both tile and
accent pieces have the appearance of being weathered over the centuries.
The tub platform was designed with a column on each corner. Three
of the four columns were "broken" off part way up.
This
photo shows the fireplace in the adjoining bedroom which is tiled with
the same tile as the bath.
This
brick fireplace is actually standard wood stud and drywall construction
clad in thin brick with a slate slab hearth. It is located in the
Eisenhower Room at the Farnsworth House.
Shown
here is the bathroom in the Eisenhower Room which is tiled using 2" x 2"
glazed ceramic tile by Latco in five colors.
The
possibilities are endless with ceramic mosaic tile. Using more than
two dozen different colors, the interior of this indoor pool was tiled
in a coral reef mural. It features Sea Turtles swimming in from the
depths of the ocean (the deep end of the pool), with coral, seaweed a treasure
chest and nearly 40 fish in the shallow end. The deep end features
a distant shadowy ship wreck and a whale. This installation proves
that if you can conceive it, Garretson Tile Co. can tile it.

The tub pictured here is tiled using 2"
x 2" and 1/2" x 2" Latco tile. The walls are tiled with 8" x 10"
Laufen tile which has a polished marble appearance. The decorative
wall tile, the accent band in the walls and some of the 1/2" x 2" tiles
on the tub are actually gold plated.
